Rava Puda

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

You must be wondering why I missed last week's cookbook update. Well, I wasn't keeping well and moreover, I thought - let's take a break. But I am back now after rejuvenation. How are you guys? Hope you are keeping well and protecting yourself from swine flu.

Lets get back to work:

I am in love with rava (semolina). So this week again, I will tell you about a dish made of rava which is super quick to prepare, delicious and healthy too.

Take 1 cup of curds and mix with little water. Beat it well and add 1/2 cup rava, 1 tsp dhaniya(coriander) powder, 1/2 tsp jeera (cumin) powder, a pinch of heeng (asafoetida)and salt to taste to it and mix well till a slightly thin paste is formed.

Now, put a tawa on the burner and heat it. Pour some of the mixed paste on it and spread it evenly on the tawa like dosa. Heat it till it forms a crispy layer and you get a wonderful aroma. Peel off the puda from tawa and heat it upside down for some time.

Serve rava puda on a plate with your favourite chutney, sauce or anything that you would eat with dosa !!

Now isnt that kickazz quick?!!!!

Did You Know ?

Inhale the smell of Nilgiri (Eucalyptus) oil regularly. This will help in clearing the respiratory system.

Eat at least 2 tulsi leaves daily. Tulsi is a good source of oxygen.

Dissolve a crystal or two of pachkarpura (a type of camphor) in water and drink daily. This is another good source of oxygen.

Wash your hands cleanly with soap immediately after reaching home/office.

Practice "Pranayam" (respiratory exercise in yoga) daily to clear the respiratory system and get rid of any breathing ailments.

Keep a sanitizer handy and apply whenever possible.

Wear a surgical mask / handkerchief over the mouth and nose while going out.

Keep your house clean. Use liquid sanitizers like Dettol, Savlon etc. to wipe the floors regularly.

As far as possible, avoid going to crowded places and enclosures like sabzi mandi, city markets, malls, theaters etc.

Keep healthy eating habits according to the season so as to not get sore throat, cold and cough. You might be asked to go to a H1N1 influenza testing center where you are at a higher risk of catching the actual virus.
